With a love for Art & Nature, this is one of Amanda Jo’s favorite subjects to teach! She utilizes the John Muir Laws method of Nature Journaling & has found some creative ways to engage children in the process of documenting nature. You would be amazed how many kids come to Wild School to find that they too have the ability to sketch! AJ believes that all children can be artists, if they chose to, & that with the right outlook, encouragement, an accepting & guiding teacher, Nature Journaling can be for everyone! The process she utilizes provides opportunities for growth in Biology, Vocabulary, Language Arts, Art, sometimes even History, depending on the plant/subject we are sketching!
This course is designed to bring in children who are new to sketching as well as practiced and self-described artists! As a student, AJ herself thought for sure she would grow up to make art for the rest of her life, and what a pleasant place she has found herself in, to be able to give back the knowledge she has learned herself, but also the opportunity to encourage other budding artists to continue(or begin) sketching!
*****Tools will be provided & sketch books, for the children to keep, will be provided!
